At 13 Kat went on her first rock-climbing trip with a camp in New Hampshire. By the end of the three days she knew she wanted to be a rock climbing guide. She has her Bachelor of Science in Outdoor Education. Her experience includes being a camp counselor in Maine and New Hampshire leading various outdoor focused trips, ski patrolling in Maine and Utah, and at the Eagle Rock school in Estes Park. Kat is certified by the New Zealand Outdoor Instructors Association including the  (NZOIA) Rock 1 Certificate, Outdoor Emergency Care Certificate, and Wilderness First Responder.
