ESTES PARK, Colo. – August 26, 2013 – Celebrate Halloween in the place that inspired Stephen King to write his well-known horror tale The Shining. The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colo. offers a weekend of activities including a Murder Mystery Dinner and the King-inspired Shining “Masquerade” Ball.

“In King’s classic novel, a masquerade ball full of “past guests” takes place in the ballroom and we thought this was the perfect way to offer a unique guest experience to our current visitors,” said Rick Benton, General Manager of The Stanley Hotel. “We’ve hosted this event for more than 15 years and it’s always a huge draw – people come from all over the world to celebrate Halloween at The Stanley.”

Halloween weekend at The Stanley kicks off with the Murder Mystery Dinner on Friday, Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the main building and then the event moves to the Concert Hall for dinner. Cost for the Murder Mystery Dinner is $99 per person including tax and gratuities. Guests must be 21 years old or older to participate in the dinner.

The Shining “Masquerade” Ball is on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 8 p.m. to midnight. The ball features a live DJ, a costume contest, cash bar and surprises. Tickets are $109 per person for the ball, which includes taxes and gratuities. All attendees must be 21 years old and costume attire is required. Seating is limited and only available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Guests participating in Halloween festivities at The Stanley can save when booking both events. The weekend event package includes entry to both the Murder Mystery Dinner and Shining Ball for $199 – a $10 savings over booking separately. Advance reservations are required for both events.

Rooms also are available over Halloween weekend and rates begin at $239 per night. For overnight accommodations or tickets to the Murder Mystery Dinner and The Shining “Masquerade” Ball, please visit www.stanleyhotel.com or call 800-976-1377.
